Old paver sealer fails — it clouds up, turns white, peels, flakes and traps mold and algae underneath. Once that happens you can't just re-seal over it. The failed coating has to come off first, and pressure washing alone won't lift a cured acrylic or solvent-based sealer. SWFL Media Blasters uses controlled media blasting to strip failed sealer, old paint and stubborn coatings off brick pavers, travertine, concrete and stone — leaving a clean, bare surface that's ready to re-sand and re-seal.

We're fully mobile and work on-site across Southwest Florida, from Naples driveways and lanais to Marco Island pool decks. Want it handled right the first time? Call or text (239) 227-1768 for a free look at your pavers.

Why does paver sealer turn cloudy and peel in Southwest Florida?

Paver sealer fails fast in SW Florida because of our heat, humidity, daily rain and relentless UV. The most common culprit is moisture trapped under the sealer — when a film-forming acrylic seals over damp pavers, the trapped water turns the coating milky white or cloudy. Add years of Gulf-coast sun and the sealer gets brittle, hazes over, then flakes and peels.

Other failures we see constantly: sealer applied too thick, sealer applied over dirty or mossy joints, and multiple layers built up over many years that finally let go all at once. Once a sealer has clouded or started peeling, there's no fixing it from the top. The old coating has to be removed down to clean stone before anything new will bond. That's exactly what our residential blasting is built for.

What surfaces can you strip — pavers, travertine, pool decks, lanais?

We strip failed sealer and old paint off brick pavers, travertine, concrete pavers, natural stone, and stamped or broom-finish concrete. That covers driveways, walkways, entryways, pool decks, lanais, patios and screened-in areas all over Naples and the wider SW Florida coast.

Each surface gets the right approach. Travertine and softer natural stone need a gentler media and a lighter touch so we lift the coating without etching the stone. Denser brick pavers and concrete can handle a more aggressive cut. For delicate decorative surfaces we often reach for soda blasting, which is one of the softest abrasives available and is kind to the substrate underneath. We dial in the media and pressure to match your exact surface — never one-size-fits-all.

How is blasting better than pressure washing pavers?

Pressure washing cleans the surface; blasting actually removes the failed sealer and paint. A pressure washer can blow out loose dirt and surface algae, but it won't dissolve or lift a cured acrylic, urethane or solvent-based sealer. Worse, high-PSI water blasts the joint sand right out and drives moisture deep into the pavers — which can cause the very cloudiness and sealer failure you're trying to fix.

Media blasting strips the coating itself, not just the grime sitting on top. It reaches into the texture and the joints, lifts embedded mold and algae from between the pavers, and leaves a clean, dry, bare profile that new sealer can actually grip. The result is a true reset — the surface comes back ready to re-sand the joints and re-seal correctly. If you've already paid to pressure wash twice and the haze keeps coming back, blasting is the fix. Call or text (239) 227-1768 and we'll take a look.

Does blasting clean the mold and algae out of the joints?

Yes — blasting lifts mold, mildew and algae out of the joint lines and surface pores, not just off the top. SW Florida's humidity makes pavers a magnet for black mold and green algae, and those organisms root down into the joint sand and the porous stone where a pressure washer can't reach.

As we strip the failed sealer, the abrasive also clears the biological growth out of the joints and texture, leaving the surface genuinely clean rather than just rinsed. From there your installer can sweep in fresh polymeric joint sand and apply a new sealer to a sound, dry, contaminant-free base. We can also tackle rust stains from old furniture, rebar or irrigation lines while we're at it.

  • Reaches into porous stone
  • Lifts surface staining
  • Leaves a clean, dry base

What does the paver restoration process look like?

Our process is simple: blast it, prep it, and get it ready to re-seal. We arrive fully mobile with everything on the truck, mask and protect nearby pool tile, screens, landscaping and walls, then blast the failed sealer, paint and growth off your pavers or travertine. We use dustless and contained methods where it makes sense to keep the mess down on your property.

When we're done you're left with a clean, bare surface that's ready to re-sand the joints and re-seal — whether your own contractor handles that step or we coordinate it. Live in Naples, Marco Island, Fort Myers or anywhere across the region? We come to you. Reach out through our contact page or text (239) 227-1768.

Questions

Good to know

Yes. Cloudy, milky or white-hazed sealer is one of the most common jobs we do. That haze is usually moisture trapped under a film-forming acrylic, and it can't be cleared by re-coating or pressure washing. We blast the failed sealer completely off, leaving clean bare pavers ready for a fresh, properly applied seal.

No, not when it's done right. Travertine and softer stone get a gentler abrasive — often soda blasting — and a lighter pressure so we lift the coating without etching the surface. We match the media and pressure to your specific stone, which is exactly why blasting is safer than guessing with aggressive chemicals or high-PSI water.

Pressure washing only cleans the surface. It can't dissolve a cured sealer, it blows the joint sand out, and it forces water into the pavers — which often causes the cloudiness in the first place. Blasting removes the actual failed coating and the embedded mold, giving new sealer a sound surface to bond to.

Our specialty is the stripping and surface prep that makes a great re-seal possible — we hand the surface back clean, dry and ready. We can coordinate the re-sand and re-seal or work alongside your own contractor. Call or text (239) 227-1768 and we'll talk through what your project needs.

Yes. Along with failed sealer we strip old paint overspray, dropped paint, tire marks, rust stains from furniture or rebar, and stubborn mold and algae out of the joints. If something is stuck to your pavers, travertine or concrete, there's a good chance we can blast it off.

We're fully mobile and bring everything on the truck. We serve Naples, Marco Island, Bonita Springs, Estero, Fort Myers, Cape Coral and Golden Gate across Southwest Florida. See our full service area or just text (239) 227-1768 with your address and we'll get you a free look.

It depends on the square footage, how many layers of sealer have built up, and the surface type — but most residential driveways, pool decks and lanais are handled in a day. We'll give you a realistic timeline when we see the job. Hours are Mon–Sat 8a–6p.
