Boats live hard in Southwest Florida. Warm Gulf water means barnacles, slime and failing antifouling build up fast, and old bottom paint stacks up coat after coat until it cracks and sheds. SWFL Media Blasters strips it all back to clean, sound gelcoat — without the gelcoat burn or gouging that aggressive sanding and dry sandblasting can cause. We're fully mobile, so we bring the rig to your boatyard, marina, dry-storage or driveway anywhere from Naples to Fort Myers.

Boat bottom paint removal, done right

Layer after layer of antifouling eventually fails — it chips, blisters and drags down your speed and fuel economy. Media blasting lifts every coat off in a single controlled pass and leaves a clean, lightly-profiled surface that new barrier coat and bottom paint actually grip. We dial in the media and pressure for your hull, so we cut through hard racing finishes and soft ablatives alike while keeping the gelcoat sound.

Because the process stays cool, there's no heat distortion on thin aluminum or running gear, and no swirl marks or feathered edges to fair out afterward.

What we blast on your boat

From the keel up, we handle the surfaces that take the most abuse on the water: fiberglass and gelcoat hulls, running gear, props and shafts, trim tabs, outdrives and lower units, plus aluminum and steel trailers that rust out in the salt air. Sailboat keels, pontoons and jon boats are all in our wheelhouse.

Whether it's a center console in for a refresh or a sport-fish stripped to bare for a full bottom job, we leave it clean, dry and ready for the next step.

Why blasting beats sanding & pressure washing for hulls

Pressure washing only knocks off the loose slime and growth — the failing paint and contamination stay put. Hand sanding and grinding are slow, throw clouds of toxic antifouling dust, and gouge soft gelcoat. Media blasting removes 100% of the coating, reaches into chines, strakes and tight contours a sander can't, and leaves the exact surface profile marine coatings are designed to bond to. The result is a longer-lasting bottom job and far less fairing labor.

Questions

Good to know

No. We match the abrasive and pressure to your hull, and because the process runs cool it strips paint and growth without burning, gouging or distorting the gelcoat. We always test and dial it in on an inconspicuous spot before doing the full bottom.

Most recreational hulls are stripped in a day, depending on size, how many coats of antifouling are built up, and access. We'll give you a clear timeline with your free on-site estimate.

Yes — we're fully mobile across Southwest Florida. As long as the boat is hauled out and on stands or a trailer, we bring the equipment to your yard, marina, dry-storage or driveway.

Yes. Blasting takes off marine growth, slime and every layer of old bottom paint together, leaving clean, profiled gelcoat ready for barrier coat and fresh antifouling.

We use recycled and eco-friendly abrasives and contain the work area, which keeps dust and cleanup far lower than open dry sandblasting. We follow the yard's containment rules.

We can. We blast it, prep it and coat it — ask about barrier coat and bottom paint so your hull leaves protected, not just bare.
