Bonita Springs sits between the Gulf and Estero Bay: salt in the air, humidity that never lets up, hard UV all summer and a storm most afternoons in the wet season. A film-forming sealer has to survive all of that on a surface that also holds moisture from below.
The failure we see most is trapped moisture. When sealer goes down over pavers that are still damp, or when irrigation and groundwater push up through the base, that water gets stuck under the film and the surface turns milky white. The sun does the rest: the coating goes brittle, hazes over, then flakes and peels. Sealer laid too thick, laid over mossy joints, or built up coat on coat lets go the same way. West-facing driveways and unshaded pool decks usually go first.
The instinct when a driveway clouds over is to put fresh sealer on it. That does not work, and it is the most common mistake on this kind of job. A new coat cannot reach the moisture, the mold or the broken film underneath. It bonds to the failed layer instead of to the stone, so the haze stays exactly where it is, now buried under something new.
Pressure washing fails for a different reason: water will not dissolve a cured acrylic or urethane sealer. What it will do is blow the joint sand out from between your pavers, chew at soft travertine, and drive more water into the base. Taking the coating off is the only real reset. Bonita Springs driveways and pool decks are a mix, and the surface decides the approach. Travertine is soft and porous, with pitting that holds sealer down in the holes, so it gets gentle media and light pressure that lifts the coating without opening the stone or dulling a honed face. Clay brick pavers are harder and more forgiving, and they come back with a warm color most owners have not seen in years.
Concrete pavers sit in between: durable, but the color lives in a thin surface layer, so we work carefully to avoid scouring the pigment. We run crushed glass, garnet, soda, sand and dustless blasting, and we test a small out of the way patch first so you can see your own surface before we commit to the whole driveway. With the sealer off, the surface comes back bare and true to its own color, texture open again instead of buried under a plastic film. The joints usually give up some sand along the way. That is expected, and it is a good thing, because that sand had mold and algae down in it. The right next step is fresh joint sand, then new sealer on a dry, clean, sound surface so it bonds and lasts.

Yes, but not from the top. That milky look is almost always moisture trapped under a film-forming sealer, and washing or re-coating will not clear it. The failed film has to come off. We blast it off the pavers completely, which also lifts the mold and algae out of the joints, leaving a bare surface ready for a fresh, properly applied seal.
Not when it is set up correctly. Travertine and softer stone get a gentle media and light pressure so the coating lifts without etching the surface. Pool decks and lanais get the same care, plus masking on the tile, coping, cage and screens. We test a small out of the way area first so you can see the result on your own stone.
Pressure washing cleans what is sitting on the surface. It cannot dissolve a cured sealer, it blasts the joint sand out from between the pavers, and it forces water into the base, which is often what caused the cloudiness in the first place. Blasting removes the coating itself along with the growth in the joints.
Stripping and prep are our specialty, and we hand the surface back clean, dry and ready for it. We can coordinate the re-sand and re-seal or work alongside the paver contractor you already use. If you want us to carry it through to a coated finish, we can do that too.
Dustless (wet) blasting wets the abrasive right at the nozzle, so the dust drops at the work instead of drifting over a screen cage or onto the neighbor's car. We tarp and mask the surrounding area, keep the spent media contained, and clean the site up before we leave.
Yes. Along with failed sealer we take off dropped paint and overspray, tire marks, grill and furniture rust stains, irrigation staining and the mold and algae rooted in the joint lines. Painted concrete patios and walkways fall in the same category. If something is stuck to your pavers, travertine or concrete, there is a good chance we can blast it off.
